Monica Mason - Set the moody mood with stellar vocals and captivating stage presence!

Monica Mason is a 50 year old creator, and loves all things creative. 

Acting began in high school, participating in plays and musicals, usually in lead roles. 

Once upon a time she was going to be an opera singer and attended the University of Victoria in the late 90s for Voice Performance, with a minor in Composition. A classically trained singer, she has now branched out into all genres, and will try any song that speaks to her. A singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, and entertainer, she has 5 cover songs and 5 original songs on all streaming platforms currently. She is also currently writing 2 musicals.

She also makes art, in all mediums, but mainly acrylic on stretched canvas, and has sold many paintings since beginning her self-taught artistic journey 10 years ago.

She is also a writer and has a published book of poetry on Amazon, and is currently working on Volume 2, as well as 2 childrens books, a research based self-help book for trauma survivors 'How to Thrive Beyond the Survive', and an autobiografictional memoir.

In her other lives, Monica has been many things, lending her knowledge, experience, and education in innumerable areas of work and life. These include being a server, professional cleaner, breakfast cook and chamber maid for a bed and breakfast, camp counselor and rock climbing and gymnastics instructor at summer camps, college dorm receptionist, live-in nanny, daycare worker, usher, live-in home care provider for a terminally ill woman, cashier, home care nanny for a high medical needs infant, childcare provider for the YMCA and other out of school care programs, before school care, after school care and kinder care, assistant manager for out of school care programs, manager for out of school care programs, residential care worker in group homes for adults with special needs, student nurse in orthopedics, and finally an Emergency Specialized Registered Nurse, having worked in almost every area of nursing since 2006, including Hospital Liason Discharge Planning, Long-term care Case Management, Medical, Surgical, Home Care, Palliative Care, Public Health, Immunizations, Acute Care, Cardiac Step-Down Unit, Residential Care, Pediatrics, Clinic, including specialized wound care, infusions, porta-cath access, compression dressings, doppler assessment of peripheral circulation and much more, and of course Emergency Nursing, having worked in ER for 4 years, 2007-2011.

Monica is excited to contribute all her knowledge, skills, experience, and education towards all her endeavours! Bringing a depth and diversity only possible when a life has been richly lived.

*Performances blend many music genres, either Acapella, self accompanied on keyboard, or with pre-recorded self-generated backing tracks; As well as spontaneous keyboard improvisations. Her music is interspersed with stories, quips, jest, and spoken word.

She immediately silences a room when on stage and has a commanding and captivating pressence. Her stellar vocals fill the room fully, as well as the hearts and minds of all listeners.

Outfit changes are often incorporated as she loves to express herself in all ways, including cosutmes and fashion.

Audience participation may also occur, at times turing patrons into a glorious chorus when well-known cover songs are performed.

With a vast repertoire of original pieces and cover songs, which only keeps growing, she is able to tailor her set-list to fit a theme as requested.
